Student Services and Resources
Wellness Center
The Wellness Center is located in Buntrock Commons. The center also provides information, activities and resources for wellness and healthy lifestyles to St. Olaf Students. Wellness has several dimensions: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and vocational.
Activities include Healthy Lifestyles Week, Health Fair, Wellstock, 5K Fun Run/Walk, Pause programs, finals study breaks, and residence hall programming on wellness topics. These and other educational activities promote active and responsible lifestyle choices that have a positive effect on personal well-being. The student staff supports programs and collaborates with other groups on campus to encourage dimensions of wellness. A student Wellness Committee meets weekly to help plan and implement the various programs and activities of the center. A peer education program provides educational programs on a monthly basis as well as provides support materials for students on campus.
St. Olaf believes that the use of chemicals is contrary to the mission of the college, which promotes the holistic development of each of its students. Hence, the consumption of alcoholic beverages and use of illicit drugs is prohibited on campus.
Since we recognize that some members of the campus community may, within applicable federal, state and local law, choose to use alcohol, St. Olaf College actively educates the members of the campus community about alcohol and drugs and provides assistance for those affected by substance abuse problems.
The Wellness Center provides the following programs and services:
- Actively provides educational substance abuse prevention programming and coordinates substance abuse prevention campaigns throughout the year;
- Provides support for students interested in maintaining abstinence from mood-altering chemicals, and students interested in or needing other support for chemical use- and abuse-related issues;
- Maintains a multimedia lending library of chemical health-related information;
- Provides referrals for students with substance abuse issues and concerns.
