Student Learning Assessment
http://www.stolaf.edu/offices/ir-e/assessment/
St. Olaf is committed to gathering evidence of its success in fostering student learning and development, from the beginning of college to graduation and beyond. We want to know more than just the courses you took and the grades you earned - we can tell that much just from transcripts! We want to know about the specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes you develop during your time in college, and how your St. Olaf experience contributes to that learning. This information helps the St. Olaf faculty make good decisions about curriculum requirements, course content, assignments, grading, and advising, so students can get the most out of what the College has to offer. In order to track your learning during your time at St. Olaf, we need to know where you are at the beginning of your college experience. For that reason, there is time set aside during the Week One schedule (see below) for first-year student learning assessment. Different students will be asked to do different things – some of you will complete writing tasks that demonstrate your current skills, while others will respond to one or more learning surveys. You’ll receive your specific assessment “assignment,” including information about time and place, with your Week One materials after your arrival on campus.

Chapel Schedule
10:10-10:30 a.m. (Mon/Wed/Fri)
11:10- 11:30 a.m. (Tues)
11:00-11:15 a.m. (Thurs)
Daily Chapel is a time of inspiration for body, mind, and spirit, a welcome harbor in a busy day. A variety of students, faculty, and staff speakers witness to their thoughtful faith and invite the community to join them. All are welcome!

Telephone/Voice Mail
The St. Olaf Telephone Office supports the campus telephone system. Please be sure to sign up for voice mail and collect your authorization code. Voice mail is an important tool on campus because it allows professors and staff members to leave you a voice mail message on your campus extension without making a long distance call to your cell phone. Your authorization code will allow you to make a long-distance call from your residence hall phone or any public campus phone.

The Telephone Office also has a public fax machine. Outgoing faxes are $1.25 for the first page and .50 for every additional page. Incoming faxes are $1.00 for the first page and .25 for each additional page. International faxes are $2.75 for the first page and $1.00 for every additional page.

If you experience telephone problems, contact by email: telecom@stolaf.edu or call x3041. Located in the Buntrock Commons in Room 052... just walk through the main Buntrock entrance, past the cash machines and through the double doors and down the long hallway. The Telephone Office is the first office on the right.
