Molecular Modeling at St. Olaf College
Installing SpartanStudent (Windows only; sorry, no Mac version)
St. Olaf has an on-campus site license for Spartan Student. You can run Spartan Student on any Windows computer that is connected to the campus network. Installation of Spartan Student is very simple. You will need administrator access to your computer.
THESE INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT YET WORK.
- 1. Find the SpartanStudent installer as follows: If you are off campus, first
follow the instructions at http://stolaf.edu/it/vpn/ to connect to St. Olaf via a "virtual private network."
If you are using your own computer, map a network drive to \\stofiles.stolaf.edu\prime\Installs.
If you are using a campus computer, find the "I" drive. Open the drive and find the SpartanStudent directory.
- 2. Run the .exe file in the SpartanStudent directory, probably SpartanStudent.exe
or something of that nature. It takes some time to transfer to your computer and install this very large package (over 300 Mb).
If this is your computer and the installer does not start after a minute or so, copy the EXE file and the accompanying intel_libs.zip
file in that directory to a local drive and start the EXE file from there.
When asked, select the option to use a "Network harware key" and continue through the installation. A second installation relating to "Sentinel HASP" will also start.
- 3. Note that there is an online overview and a set of tutorials in PDF format.
