The Student Associate for Inclusive Collections works with library staff and other campus partners to develop and promote inclusive library collections and to perform other tasks as assigned. The student in this position will help 1) to identify and fill gaps in library collections that arise from the historical neglect among academic libraries of historically marginalized and underrepresented groups; and 2) design and promote library events and programs that advance inclusivity, reflect the diversity of the campus community, and support a changing curriculum. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) on campus and experience working independently on complex projects. Ideal applicants will also be familiar with library resources and research strategies; have experience using spreadsheets and databases; and have strong analytical skills. For 2022-2023, this position will work with the Music Library. Projects include 1) maintaining and updating the Database for Historically Underrepresented Composers; 2) assisting with promotion and production of the recital Music from Diverse Voices (Fall 2022); and 3) creating displays promoting DEI materials within Halvorson Music Library.
