Northern Boundary Section Fall Regional Conference
Friday, September 5 & Saturday September 6, 2014
Our fall conference will be held this year at Anoka Ramsey Community College, Anoka, Minnesota. Conference events will be held in the Performing Arts Center and nearby classrooms in an adjacent building on the ARCC campus.
Please join us Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon for a weekend of theater sessions and activities at AARC.
Events:
• "Cover the Walls"-
Students, faculty, staff, and theatre professionals- SHOW US YOUR DESIGN WORK! This is an open invitation for designers to exhibit their work and share with fellow artists their ideas and approaches to design. Student display work will be entered into a juried competition with scholarship awards for free registration to the USITT National Conference in March 2015. (See Guidelines for Exhibiting). Setup begins at 6pm on Friday.
• "Technical Solutions Exhibit"
The Technical Solutions Exhibit is much like the USITT national Theatre Technology Exhibit (Tech Expo). Student display work will be entered into a juried competition with scholarship awards for free registration to the USITT National Conference in March 2015. (See Guidelines for Technical Solutions Exhibit for complete information). Setup begins at 6pm on Friday.
• Dinner and Social Hour
Friday evening beginning at 7pm. (Meal included in registration fee) Located in the Courtyard Commons near the Performing Arts Center.
• Opening Session following dinner- (8pm)
Friday Evening- Conference Kickoff and Keynote by Christopher Lutter-Gardella, founder of Puppet Farm Arts – he will share his journey as an artist, performer, collaborator, social activist, recycler, and businessman. His work ranges from masks and puppets, to costumes, sets, and parade floats. From the Heart of the Beast's "May Day Festival" and the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota to workshops in to Arizona and New York City, Chris strives “to enliven and enrich communities to engaging people in collaborative and eco-conscious art-making.”

• Social Event (9:45pm) Bowling at Classic Bowl!
• Conference Sessions:
Saturday Morning 9-11am and afternoon 12:30-2:30pm in and around the Performing Arts Center on the ARCC campus.
Select from sessions on Faux Paint Finishes, Period Hair Techniques & Wound Makeup Techniques including Zombies!, Counterweight Rigging History, Identifying Vintage Costume Details, SketchUp for Scenic Design, Live Sound Mixing Tips, Thrift Store Costume Transformations, Dimming LED Fixtures, and Working with Unusual and Salvaged Materials.
An All-Conference Session is scheduled at 3pm: Career Retrospectives from a panel of long-time regional members! These valuable members of our region represent a wealth of knowledge and experience – we’ll discuss challenges, lessons-learned, epiphanies, mistakes, triumphs and NBS history with a Q & A opportunity.
Final Wrap-up session 4:30 pm on Saturday. Design Awards will be announced.

• Individual Member of USITT NBS $20
(Non-members- add $15 for membership)
• Student Member $5
(Non-Member students- add $5 for membership)
Students participating in the Design Exhibit will have the registration fee waived, but still must be a student member.
