Proposed By-Laws Changes
NBS will be asked to enter into the Section affiliate agreement with USITT within the next year. This will provide us with the following legal benefits as well as USITT:
• The affiliate agreement will align with USITT’s fiscal year.
• Sections will fall under USITT’s 501(c) 3 umbrella.
• Sections will have liability insurance available through USITT’s carrier at an approximate annual cost of $75.
• Sections who sign the affiliation agreement will have their federal tax returns combined and filed with USITT’s annual federal return. Sections that do not sign the affiliate agreement will be required to sign a license agreement in order to use USITT’s name/logo and provide section activities that are consistent to USITT’s mission.
In order to make this happen it is necessary to make the following changes in our Bylaws, indicated in red below. We will vote on these at the Fall Section meeting scheduled Friday evening September 16 at the Fall Conference at Hamline. The proposed changes have been reviewed by the NBS Board of Directors at their July, 2016 meeting.
