Northern Boundary Section Fall Regional Conference

Our fall conference will be held this year at Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota. Conference events will be held in the Drew Fine Arts Center and nearby classrooms (campus map is here).

Please join us Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon for a weekend of theater sessions and activities at Hamline.
Events:
• "Cover the Walls"-
Students, faculty, staff, and theatre professionals- SHOW US YOUR DESIGN WORK! This is an open invitation for designers to exhibit their work and share with fellow artists their ideas and approaches to design. Student display work will be entered into a juried competition with scholarship awards for free registration to the USITT National Conference in March 2017. (See Guidelines for Exhibiting). Setup begins at 5pm on Friday.
• "Technical Solutions Exhibit"
The Technical Solutions Exhibit is much like the USITT national Theatre Technology Exhibit (Tech Expo). Student display work will be entered into a juried competition with scholarship awards for free registration to the USITT National Conference in March 2017. (See Guidelines for Technical Solutions Exhibit for complete information). Setup begins at 5pm on Friday.
• Dinner and Social Hour
Friday evening beginning at 6 pm. (Meal on campus & included in registration fee)
• Opening Session following dinner- (7pm)
Friday Evening- Conference Kickoff:
A report on the OISTAT Research Committee Conference held in Stockholm, Sweden, June 2016. Wendy Waszut-Barrett will share images and insights from this international adventure in Sweden including highlights from the 250th anniversary of Drottingholm's Palace Theatre and also the Royal Swedish Opera Workshops.
• Northern Boundary Section membership meeting
Friday Evening, (8:00pm).
• Conference Sessions:
Saturday Morning 9-11am and afternoon 12:30-2:30pm in and around the Theatre on campus.
Select from sessions on lighting, make-up, pneumatics, scene painting, thermoplastics for costumes and props, sound and using social media in marketing.
An All-Conference Session is scheduled at 3pm: Social Media and Marketing - exploring how to use social media to your advantage, developing policies and rules for its use and observing legal guidelines in place from publishers. We will also discuss how to combine traditional advertising (posters, print, radio, television) with social media to best utilize resources and budget.
Final Wrap-up session 4:15 pm on Saturday. Design Awards will be announced.

Friday Night beginning at 5pm, & Saturday morning 8am to 9am with continental breakfast provided to get us all going! Wrap-up session Saturday afternoon to be done by 5:00 pm.

Students participating in the Design Exhibit will have the registration fee waived, but still must be a student member.
