• 5pm - Registration and setup for "Cover the Walls and Tech Solutions Expo" Student, faculty, staff, and theatre professionals- SHOW US YOUR DESIGN WORK! Open invitation to exhibit work and share with fellow artists! Top student presentations will be awarded a complimentary registration to the USITT National Conference in March. Location: Theatre Lobby.

• 6pm -Dinner and Socializing   join us for dinner on campus- included in the registration fee. Location: Scene Shop.

• 8pm - Northern Boundary Opening Session and Membership Meeting.

A report on the OISTAT Research Committee Conference held in Stockholm, Sweden, June 2016. Wendy Waszut-Barrett will share images and insight from this international adventure in Sweden including highlights from the 250th anniversary of Drottingholm's Palace Theatre and also the Royal Swedish Opera Workshops. Location: Anne Simley Theatre.

Saturday, September 17:

• 8am - Registration with Continental Breakfast. Location: Theatre Lobby.     “Appy Hour” – share your favorite Apps.

• 9am to 11am Morning Session Choose one of the following sessions:

Lighting – 
The latest and greatest Lighting fixtures: Features and product demos - Presented by Seth Scott.
Session Description: This will be a brief introduction into the latest and greatest Lighting products on the market. Everything from LED cyc lights, and moving head washes to Leko replacements. Session Location: Main Theatre.

Make-up - Introduction to Airbrush Makeup Application - Presented by Meghan Bernstein.

Session Description: Expand your makeup knowledge and skillset with this introductory workshop! This session covers beginning airbrush application theory and techniques. Students will have the opportunity for questions and hands-on practice with instruction during the workshop session following demonstration.
Session Location: Makeup Room

Scenic - Painted scenery, stage machinery, and other interesting tidbits & Discoveries.  Presented by Wendy Waszut-Barrett. Session Location: Design Studio.

Scenic Technology - Pneumatics/SFX - Presented by George Grubb & Matt Gilbertson.
Session Description: This workshop will explore using pneumatic automation for scenic and special effects. Students will get to build a working mock-up of their own effect idea and get hands-on experience with pneumatic cylinders, components and control systems. Session Location: Scenery Shop

• 11:00-12:30 LUNCH
Lunch, Networking, social hour – also View and vote on “Cover the Walls” and “Tech Solutions”.   Lunch provided on campus – informal theatre tour of Hamline Theater Facilities.

• 12:30-2:30 Afternoon Sessions Choose one of the following sessions:

Scenic PaintingHow to Paint Wood to Look like Wood! – Presented by Tiffany Fier.
Session Description: If you ever paint scenery in your life there is the very excellent chance that you will need to paint some kind of wood or wood product to look like a different kind of wood.  In this session T. Fier will show you several strategies to make your faux-painted wood look like the real thing. Session location: Scenery Shop.

Costume/PropsFantastic Plastics: Thermo plastics for Costume & Props - 
Presented by Ricky Greenwell & Billy Wilburn.
Session Description: This hands on work shop with give participants the opportunity to experience and work with Fossshope, Varaform, wonder flex, worbla, Instamorph. Thermoplastics have great possibilities for costumes, props and scenic art. Come explore the possibilities.      Session Location: Costume Shop.

SoundCreating Live Sound Design from Scratch - Presented by Benji Inniger.
Session Description: Creating sound for live theatre can be very different from other audio work. This session will focus on how to create impactful, thoughtful, and adaptive sound design using free tools such as Audacity and QLab. Session location: Main Theatre.

• 3:00-4:15pm - All Conference Session.
Social Media & Marketing for your Theatre
– Presenters:
Brooklyn Schwiesow, SDSU, Student Social Media Coordinator for State University Theatre, Amanda Schindler, Performing Arts Director, Pearson Lakes Arts Center.    
Session Description: This session will explore how traditional methods of publicizing a single event or a whole season can be adapted to today’s social media savvy audiences.  We will explore how to use social media to your advantage, look at how to develop policies and rules for its use and some of the legal guidelines in place from publishers.  We will also discuss how to combine traditional advertising (posters, print, radio, television) with social media to best utilize resources and budget.
Session location: Main Theatre.
