Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, is seeking a performance specialist who is an excellent teacher and director for a full time, fixed term position (with possible renewal), beginning August 2010.   Candidates should be prepared to teach Beginning and Advanced Acting, Directing, Period Styles, and/or Music Theatre, plus other courses in the theatre or communication curriculum such as Women in Theatre, Oral Interpretation, Contemporary Drama, or Public Speaking.  Master’s degree required, MFA or Ph.D. preferred.

Fort Lewis College Theatre

Fort Lewis College and its developing Theatre program invites applications for a Design and Technology specialist and Theatre Generalist for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor position in their Department of Theatre.  This is a nine-month, (mid-August to mid-May) full-time (12 credit hours per term), non-tenure track; renewable for up to two additional years, contingent on performance and available funding.  MFA or ABD required for appointment as Visiting Instructor; Ph.D. or MFA with significant professional experience required for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor. http://theatre.fortlewis.edu/

Qualifications
Candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching in both classroom and practical theatre environments. Candidate must have a breadth of theatre knowledge with expertise in scenography and technology.  Preference will be give to candidates with demonstrated engagements and developments in the field and/or evidence of professional credentials, or both, in addition to training, experience, or interest in global, interdisciplinary & multi-cultural course delivery for the General Education program. Preference will also be given to candidates with significant accomplishment in scholarship and experience in departmental leadership.

Responsibilities
In addition to teaching disciplinary courses and General Education courses, the successful candidate is expected to take on a leadership role in departmental and college initiatives and development, including developments in summer theatre programming. The successful candidate is also expected to effectively train staff and students toward the best theatre production practices including: staff training, overseeing the use and maintenance of department production shops, equipment and theatre facility, and participation in technical and dress rehearsals. Teaching specialties may include various other theoretical and practical theatre related courses.

University of Maryland

Assistant/Associate Professor of Acting and Voice

Position Title:  Assistant/Associate Professor of Acting and Voice; full-time, tenure track, academic-year position. 
Starting Date: Appointment begins August, 2010, contingent upon funding.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position Description:    Teach courses in acting and voice in the new MFA in Performance program and in an undergraduate liberal arts
curriculum; serve as vocal/dialect consultant on selected Department of Theatre productions; maintain appropriate professional standing in the field; participate in departmental governance. As qualifications warrant, the opportunity exists to direct departmental productions. 

Qualifications: Required three years experience teaching acting and voice for the actor in a university or conservatory setting,
comprehensive training in voice, speech and dialects and professional acting, coaching and/or directing experience. Training and certification in at least one of the foundational voice techniques; Patsy Rodenberg, Cecily Barry, David Smukler, Arthur Lessac, The Central School, or Linklater Designation is  required. Facility with IPA and a clear methodology for teaching speech and dialects is also required. Certification or significant experience in a foundational movement technique such as FM Alexander (STAT or AmSat), Middendorf, or Feldenkrais is a plus.  Additional qualifications of interest include Western and Non-Western approaches to acting and performance. Preferred qualifications are the MFA with an emphasis in Performance, or equivalent professional experience, and unionaffiliation. A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
