Greetings Northern Boundary Folk,

RoothIt’s the best part of my job:  handing out the scholarship money!  I am very pleased to announce this year’s recipients:

Erin  Belpedio, Lighting Designer from Gustavus Adolphus, nominated by Terena Wilkins.

Michaela Nelson, Stage Manager from the University of Northern Iowa, nominated by Ron Koinzan.

Leah Vogel, Stage Manager from North Dakota State University, nominated by Lori Horvik.

Kristen Weller, Costume Designer from Gustavus Adolphus, nominated by Andrea Gross.

Ronnie Wells, Scene Designer from the University of Northern Iowa, nominated by Mark Parrot.

And a round of thanks for the fine folks who took the time to serve as Scholarship Application Readers:  Mickey Henry of Norcostco,  Terena Wilkens of Gustavus Adophus, and Micheal Messer of  Hill-Murray.

We will be holding elections at our spring membership meeting in Kansas City.  So between now and then the Nominations Committee (Board Members: Peter Lerohl and Todd Todd Reemtsma and  members-at-large Mike Messer, Mickey Henry, and Billy Norman) will be fielding nominations and recruiting possible members.  New leadership is needed and there is a strong desire for increased involvement from individuals employed in the non-academic sector.

Most people don’t see themselves in leadership roles.  It usually takes someone else to see this potential.  So if you know someone who would make a good board member please don’t assume that they will step forward on their own.   Help someone see the contribution they can make and ask permission to nominate them.   I will always be grateful that Jim Trenberth gave me the nudge seven years ago. Very grateful.

Enjoy your holidays!  May the New Year bring you every sort of satisfaction.
