Position Title: Field Service Drafter
SECOA, a stage equipment contractor specializing in manufacturing and installation of theatrical equipment for performing arts spaces, is searching for strong candidates who are proficient in Auto CAD and have a strong mechanical aptitude, general construction knowledge, and a technical theatre background. The position offers extensive travel across the United States during which the candidate will take field measurements in performing arts spaces and update shop drawings electronically. Work closely with project managers regarding travel and site conditions. SECOA is looking for a self motivated, detail orientated and organized individual to fill this position. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficiency in Auto CAD 2009, Excel, Word, Access, job costing software, and Internet use
- 2 year degree in drafting
- Adeptness at interpreting architectural, structural and MEP drawings
- Desire to travel extensively, 2-4 days a week, by plane or personal vehicle.
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Superior organization skills
- Proficiency in construction methods and building trades such as structural steel, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC. Comfort working at heights, climbing ladders to catwalks and grid iron et cetera
- Knowledge and experience in operating a boom, scissor and snorkel lifts
- Knowledge of theatre equipment such as rigging, curtains, lighting, orchestra shells, pit fillers and pit lifts
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, accented by a clear and concise style
