Late Night Musings

by Todd Reemtsma, NBS Section Chairperson

ToddLights fade up.

The Chair enters.

Thank you for putting your faith in me as Chair of the Northern Boundary Section for these past six years. I have had a great time and enjoyed the ride, but it’s time to take a break. Don’t think for a minute that I’m planning on going away. I care too much about the success of this section, what it does, and what it could do to not stay involved and help the new chair and board.
There are a number of things that I wish I would have been able to accomplish – better attendance at our fall conferences, greater participation by Iowa schools and organizations in Section activities, and more student involvement on the board to name a few. But with that being said I think I have been able to keep the ship on course and hopefully I am leaving the next chair with a good starting point for the next 3 years. I cannot offer enough encouragement for every single one of our members to find an opportunity at some point in their lives to serve on the NBS board or another section if you happen to move from ours. It is rewarding.
This month we will head West and convene in Salt Lake City, Utah for the 2016 USITT Annual Conference March 16 – 19. We will have our Northern Boundary Section meeting on Thursday, March 17th at 8AM in Room 255D. It will be a busy meeting as this is an election year for our Northern Boundary Section and we will be voting for the 2016 -19 Board of Directors. Please take a look at the meeting agenda elsewhere in the newsletter as well as the candidates for the Board.
This year is also the 400th Anniversary of William Shakespeare’s First Folio and we hope that we can make sure that the Northern Boundary Section is involved in the “Shakes-year” celebrations around our section.
I look forward to seeing many of you in Salt Lake City and/or at the NBS 2016 Fall Conference.
Thank you for a great ride!
