Greetings Sectionnaires,

What a spring it’s been! I got home from the national conference/expo on a Sunday and started sandbagging on Monday! Ricky Greenwell is just moving back into his costume shop At MSU Moorhead after being evacuated for a month! So look around your theater and be grateful for dry ground.

As you can see, NBS is blazing ahead into the new millennium via the digital newsletter. Brian Bjorklund is the Buck Rogers of the editing world that made this possible. Thank you Brian! Please direct questions, comments, and compliments to Brian at bjorklun@stolaf.edu.

Let the party begin! From now until the next national conference, USITT will be celebrating its 50th year. And the Northern Boundary Section is celebrating its 30th birthday as well. We’ll be planning some special anniversary activities in conjunction with the fall workshop. The national office will once again be sponsoring 3 student registrations to the USITT Conference and Expo to be held in Kansas City, MO. In addition the ‘winning’ work will be hung as part of a special exhibit at the national. And there will be cake! So plan to join us for the fall workshop hosted by the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

I’m also looking for photos from/of our long time members to put into a slide show. If all goes as planned, the slide show will premiere at the fall workshop and then be displayed on the website. If you have photos to contribute to the project send them to me: rooth.varland@ndsu.edu. “Then and now” photos of individuals would be great, as well as photos of NBS gatherings, or landmark events from throughout the region (the opening of new theaters and photos from their first production etc).

Enjoy your summer adventures!
