POSITION Theatre Technician (Costumer, Part-time; Seasonal)
DAYS: Monday – Friday
HOURS: 1:00pm - 5:00pm (Part-Time)
Some nights and weekends will be required
SUPERVISOR: Production Manager (Peggy Sannerud)
HOURLY RATE: $16.70-$22.76 (66L)

POSITION PURPOSE: The Costumer will perform, oversee, and coordinate the design, construction, running, maintenance, and storage of costumes for the productions of the Department of Theatre & Dance. The Costumer will maintain a safe and orderly work environment and train student workers in the appropriate use of tools and proper techniques of theatrical costume construction. The Costumer will coordinate design, construction, rental, purchase, cleaning, and storage of costume shop inventory, and provide that inventory to departmental productions and events, other users within the university, and rental to users from the community.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in costume design and construction. A Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts with a concentration in Costuming may substitute for the experience requirement.

Considerable knowledge of the procedures and practices of costume design and construction for theater productions, including making patterns, fitting and altering clothing; design and application of stage makeup for theater productions.

Ability to provide technical supervision over crews doing costume design and construction; administer, organize, and oversee the purchase and inventory of all costume and makeup supplies and equipment.
