I want to first say thank you to everyone in the Northern Boundary for giving me the opportunity to attend the conference this year.
I am so grateful I was given the opportunity to go to one of the biggest and most educational conferences I have attended in my college career. I enjoyed the many different sessions I went to on lighting as that is the area I have gravitated towards. This years presenters were so professional and knowledgeable. It was really fun to be part of the audience. Most notable was a lighting session I attended. It included viewing professional light plots, great tips on how to travel and all the changes you face while on the road. I have heard many times, and it was brought up again, about the wonderful resource book called The Assistant Light Designer’s Toolkit, by Anne E. McMills. I have ordered this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to go into the lighting field. As for me, since the conference I have had the fortune of getting offers from many wonderful Universities around the country to pursue an MFA in light design. I finally found the best fit for me and am so proud and excited to be moving to Gainesville, and join Stan Kaye at the University of Florida. In the future I am excited to continue attending USITT and keep in touch with everyone back home in the Midwest. I hope to see many of you in Florida at the 2018 USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo.
