Incoming first-year student Daniel Gregory was invited to play in the "Support Our Heroes" hockey game in Colorado Springs, Colo. The game was a benefit fundraiser for the families of Fort Carson troops in Iraq.

Playing in the game were two players from the NHL and two semi-pro players, as well as players from Colorado College, the USHL and Junior A teams. Gregory, representing St. Olaf, scored a short-handed goal against former New Jersey Devil goalie Marty Wakeland. Also on the opposing team was David Hale, a first-round draft pick to the NHL. The game ended in a shootout with the opposite team winning by a goal.
