Take a seat on new/old Adirondack chairs

The next time you're on campus, look for one of the honey-colored Adirondack chairs made from Douglas Fir. The chairs, 20 in all and crafted by college carpenter Greg Menning, are new. The wood is not. Remember the old bleachers from Skoglund Athletic Center? When they were removed in 2000 to make way for the new bleachers, the wood was saved and, in keeping with college tradition, stored for re-use. "It was beautiful lumber," says Director of Facilities Pete Sandberg who came up with the idea. "We wanted to use it for something special."
