Osiecki resigns as women's hockey coach

Tom Osiecki, the first Womenýs Hockey Coach at St. Olaf College, has resigned after four seasons, Athletic Director Matt McDonald announced late Wednesday evening.
Last season Osiecki, a St. Paul native and University of St. Thomas grad, led the Oles to the MIAC playoffs for the first time in school history after a 13-11-2 mark overall.

Osiecki compiled a 29-45-4 record (23-45-4 MIAC) at St. Olaf and was the MIACýs Coach of the Year in 2002-03.
St. Olaf made a steady climb through the MIAC standings under Osieckiýs direction. The Oles finished last in their inaugural season (1-17), ninth in ý02 (2-15-1), sixth in ý03 (9-6-3) and third last season (11-7 0).
Prior to his tenure at St. Olaf, Osiecki served as the Girls Hockey Coach at Burnsville High School where he led the Blaze to a second place finish at the 1996 Minnesota State Tournament. He coached the Burnsville Boys from 1966-1990, winning back-to-back state titles in 1985 and 1986 and five straight section titles from 1983-87.
Inducted into the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1995, Osiecki collected two Minnesota Coach of the Year Awards and three Section Coach of the Year Awards.
From 1990-95, Osiecki served as a scout for the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars. He also won four straight girls state badminton titles at Burnsville from 1996-99.
