The Oles played perhaps their best game of the year Wednesday when St. Johns came to Skoglund Arena. St. Olaf dominated the Johnnies from start to finish, and pulled away for a twelve point win, 71-59.

In the first half the Oles tough defense forced the Johnnies to shoot a dismal 26.7% from the floor, as well as forcing numerous turnovers. St. Olaf built a 23 point lead, but a late run by the Johnnies in the first half, kept the game close at 32-21 at halftime.

In the second half, the St. Olaf built a 21 point lead, but saw the Johnnies claw their way back, to bring the game within eight points. That was as close as they would come, as St. Olaf pulled away for good, with a twelve point lead to get the win.

St. Olaf was led by Jon Butala (FY, West St. Paul, Minn.) who had 19 points. Matt Schlenker (Sr. Rochester, Minn.) added 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Pat Fraser (Jr. Bloomington, Minn.) reached double figures, scoring 11 points.

The win places the Oles at 4-11 in MIAC play, and 7-13 overall. The next game for St. Olaf is Saturday, February 7th when they travel to Bethel for a 3:00 p.m. game.
