Twelve faculty members awarded tenure, promotion

James May, dean of St. Olaf College, announced today that the St. Olaf Board of Regents has awarded tenure and/or promotion to 12 members of the St. Olaf faculty. The awards were granted upon the recommendation of the Tenure and Promotion Committee, the dean of the college and the president.

The following faculty have been awarded tenure:

  • Carolyn Anderson, Department of Sociology/Anthropology
  • Linda Berger, Department of Music
  • Maggie Broner, Department of Romance Languages

    The following faculty have been promoted to associate professor:
  • Carolyn Anderson, Department of Sociology/Anthropology
  • Maggie Broner, Department of Romance Languages
  • Richard Brown, Department of Mathematics
  • Martin Hodel, Department of Music

    The following faculty have been promoted to professor:
  • Gwen Barnes-Karol, Department of Romance Languages
  • Laurel Carrington, Department of History
  • Kathy Chadwick, Department of Economics
  • Dana Gross, Department of Psychology
  • DeAne Lagerquist, Department of Religion
  • Matt Richey, Department of Mathematics
  • Charles Umbanhowar, Jr., Department of Biology
