The Oles shutout St. Catherine 3-0 in home opener

St. Olaf played their first conference game at home on Friday night the 21st of November. They played St. Catherine at the Northfield arena. The final score was 3-0 in favor of St. Olaf. Goalie, Andrea Smith (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) played a great game, notching 38 saves.
St. Olaf came out hot in the first period, scoring two goals. Brittany Schultheis (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) scored the first goal off a pass from Melissa Mueller (So., Lakeview, Minn.). The second goal for the Oles was a rebound shot by Brittany Beck (Fr., Sartell, Minn.). The assist came from Claire LeDuc (Fr., St. Paul, Minn.).
In the second period there were no goals scored by either team. Andrea Smith (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) played great in the net. She had 16 saves that period. The Oles went into the third period, with a 2-0 lead. Maria Richardson (Fr., New Brighton, Minn.) had the third and final goal of the game. Richardson's goal was off a pass from Kate Barnett (Jr.-C, Burnsville, Minn.) The Oles took a 3-0 victory over St. Catherine. St. Olaf returns to action Saturday, November 22nd vs. St. Catherine.
