Rally falls short, Ole baseball out of NCAA Regional

The St. Olaf baseball team saw their season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 14-11 loser's bracket loss to UW-Whitewater in Oshkosh, Wis. St. Olaf finished the season 27-14.
St. Olaf belted 14 hits to the Warhawks 13, but the Oles committed a season-high six errors, allowing seven unearned runs.
The Oles battled back after a two-out, seven-run first inning rally by UW-Whitewater. The Oles cut the gap with a five-run third of their own. After another three-run burst by the Warhawks in the fifth, the Oles responded and cut the lead to 10-8. St. Olaf had another three-run rally in the eighth to cut the lead to the final margin.
Joe Pavelko (Jr., Richfield, Minn.) was 4-for-5 for the Oles with four RBI's. Brad Baglien (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) had three hits and Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) two with two RBI's to lead the Oles.
John Haugen (Jr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) kept St. Olaf in the game, working 5 1/3 innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out five.
UW-Whitewater had five players with two hits, led by Aaron Guilbault's 2-for-4 and four RBI effort.
The Warhawks scored 10 of their 14 runs with two outs. St. Olaf stranded eight runners, including the bases loaded twice.
