Despite a 275 yard passing performance by quarterback Brian Senske and a 12 reception, 150 yard day by Frank Bass, the Ole fell to Concordia 24-14 on Senior Day at St. Olaf College. With the tough loss, the Oles slip to (3-4, 5-4) while the Cobbers improve to (6-1, 6-3) which allows them to hold on to second place and hold out MIAC Championship hopes. Concordia would need to defeat St. Thomas on Friday, November 8 in the 5 p.m. Metrodome game and hope Bethel can upset St. John's in the 8 p.m. game.

The first quarter was scoreless, despite two St. Olaf drives into the Concordia red zone. The Cobbers scored with 8:02 left in the first half on a 10-yard Bobby Clark run. St. Olaf threatened again before half only to see a pass fall incomplete in the end zone and then miss a 42 yard field goal.

The Oles came out inspired in the second half and scored with 6:29 left in the third quarter, tying the score on a one-yard dive into the endzone by running back Jason Moore (FY, Brooklyn Park, MN). The Cobbers regained the lead, however, at 14-7, with 2:21 remaining in the quarter after recovering a fumbled punt return. The Cobbers added 7 more points with 10:50 left in the game, giving the Cobbers a 21-7 lead. The Oles fought back again with 8:23 remaining in the game, with a 21-yard pass from Brian Senske (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) to Cory Paterson to make the score 21-14. The Oles had a chance with a defensive stop, but Cobbers converted on 4th and 6 and 4th and 1 on their final drive, kicking a 28-yard field goal with 1:35 remaining in the game to make the final score 24-14.

The Oles (5-4) host Gustavus (5-3) on Thursday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Metrodome in Minneapolis for the MIAC Showcase.
