Oles win MIAC Tournament, will play in NCAA's

The St. Olaf volleyball team earned a NCAA berth with a 30-26, 31-29 and 30-27 in the MIAC Tournament Championship game.

Shannah Olson (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) had 13 kills and Brie Mattson (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) had 42 assists to lead the Oles. Olson and Mattson were named to the six-player All-Tournament team.

St. Thomas, who defeated the Oles at Shoenecker Arena in September, were led by conference MVP Katie Reynolds'(Sr., Mora, Minn.) 18 kills and 16 digs.

Danica Finseth (FY, Chosen Valley, Minn.) and Emily Ganzkow-Wold (Sr., Madison, Wis./West) added 12 and 11 kills for St. Olaf in the win.

St. Olaf, the MIAC's automatic qualifier, will play in the NCAA Tournament which begins Nov. 14 at a site to be determined.

The Tommies will await Sunday's NCAA selection pairing to see if they are awarded an at-large bid.
