The St. Olaf fastpitch team split with cross-town rival Carleton on Monday, April 29th. After losing the first game 12-4, the Oles came back strong in the nightcap winning 5-1. On Tuesday, April 30th, the Oles dropped two to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, 10-2 and 9-7.

In the first game on Monday, with St. Olaf leading 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Carleton hit a two-out single that started a nine-run rally. Four Ole errors contributed to the rally that the Oles could never get back. In the nightcap, St. Olaf regained their composure as Grete Christenson (Sr., Springfield, Va.) picked up the pitching win allowing only 5 hits.

On Tuesday at Stout, the Oles could not find their momentum. Leading through three innings in both games, the Stout Blue Devils made comebacks for two wins. Finding themselves down 9-4 in the second game, catcher Kelly Frederick (Jr., Woodland, Minn.) hit a two run homerun to begin a 7th inning rally. The Oles scored again, but it was not enough as the game ended 9-7.

The Oles are now 10-22 overall and 5-13 in the MIAC. Their next game is May 1, 2002 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Action begins at 4:00 PM.
