Oles drop last two games to Hamline
May 6, 2002
The St. Olaf College fastpitch team ended their season with two losses. The Pipers of Hamline University beat the Oles 3-2 and 11-6. The Oles ended their season 5-19 in the MIAC and 10-28 overall.
The first game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Hamline went on top 1-0, then added two more to their score in the 6th to put them ahead 3-0. The Oles started out the bottom of the 7th with two back to back homeruns by Molly Robinson (Jr. Northfield, Minn.) and Lori Thomas (FY Rockford, Minn.)to move the score to 3-2 with no outs. The Oles couldn't capitalize on the opportunity and lost the first game in a close one.
A two-run homerun hit by Kirsten Haaland (Jr. Billings, Mont.) and a two RBI single by Andrea Smith (FY Burnsville, Minn.) gave the Oles a four run third inning and put them ahead 6-2. However, the Pipers came back with seven runs in the top of the fourth and then added two more in the top of the 6th. The Oles lead was put to an end, and the Pipers took home another victory, 11-6.
The Oles ended their season 5-19 in the MIAC and 10-28 overall. Congratulations to the Ole Seniors Carrie Cooley (Villard, Minn.), and Grete Christenson (Springfield, Va.).
