St. Olaf Women's Golf Team Makes Huge Comeback

The Olaf women's golf team ended their fall golf season with a bang by making a 26 shot improvement on the second day of the MIAC golf tournament at Prestwick Golf Course in Woodbury, Minnesota. After the first day, St. Olaf was in 7th place with a total team score of 378. Knowing that they could do better, the team returned the second day to significantly improve upon their score by 26 shots ending with a 352, the best single day score the Ole's have shot all season. To top it all off, the Ole's came to the tournament with only four players, the common team roster consists of six players. Individual scores decreased by as much as 10 strokes helping to move the team into 6th place.
Leading the team was Jennifer Moore (Sr, Chaska, Minn.) who received an All-Conference award for being in the top ten for the weekend. After shooting a 90 on the first day, Moore came back to shoot an 80 on the second day, the third best score of the day, giving her a combined total of 170. Naomi Schwegler (So, Albany, Minn.) also made a huge comeback, shooting a 91 on day one and an 86 on day two. Abby Sprenger (So, Kiester, Minn.) came in with a greatly reduced score of 88 after having shot a 96 on the first day. Heather Mattson (Jr, Maple Grove, Minn.) shot a 101 the first day and reduced it to a 98 on the second helping the team to reach a final score of 730. St. Thomas won the conference. Gustavus Adolphus finished second and nine-time defending conference champion, Concordia, finished third.
The team left their final meet of the season happy with the day's events and anxious for the spring season to begin.
