The Oles had sincere desire and motivation going into this match, coming off of the only conference loss against Bethel, and gained the upper hand winning the match 3-1 against the Scots. St. Olaf is now 15-1 overall and 8-1 in conference.

The first game was filled with fierce competition at the net. Both teams competed with high intensity in offensive attacks. The Oles controlled the first two games by maintaining excellent serve-receive and accurate serving. The score for the first game was 30-23. An incredible performance was given by Emily Ganzkow-Wold (Jr., Madison, Wis.?West) who lit up the court with her blocking and attacking; for the match her hitting average was .269 and she tallied up 4 solo blocks and 2 block assists. The Oles won the second game with a score of 30-12.

The third game was a let down in team focus which found the Oles behind early in the game. However, with scrappy play the Oles came back from a 13-23 deficit, but finally lost 25-30. The final game of the match was a product of frustration and desire to win. The Oles dominated the court with great serving and great teamwork. Brie Mattson (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) served a total of 5 service aces throughout the match. The final score for the last game was 30-21 clinching both the match and a playoff birth for the MIAC Tournament.

The Volleyball team has this next weekend off but returns to action at 7:30 PM, Wednesday, October 17 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. The next home contest is Senior Night at 7:30 PM, on Wednesday, October 24, against Carleton College. The Carleton match will conclude conference play; however, the team will be headed to Whitewater, Wis. to play in a highly competitive tournament before the MIAC play-offs begin.
