Jenny Martin (FY., Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) scored two goals Tuesday night, leading Augsburg College to a 4-0 shutout win over St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer game in Minneapolis. It was Augsburg's first win over St. Olaf since 1996, as the Auggies improved to 6-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in MIAC play by winning their final home game of the season. St. Olaf dropped to 8-6-0 overall and 4-4-0 in the MIAC.

Martin scored both her goals in similar fashion, taking advantage of a pop-fly pass to beat the defense and Ole goalkeeper Jillian Helseth (Jr., Hartford, S.D.) to the ball, and firing the ball into an open net. Augsburg scored its final three goals of the game in a 10-minute stretch. Kristi Ofstad (So., Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Stevens HS) claimed a goal by popping a loose ball past the defenders and off a St. Olaf player on a corner kick in the 62nd minute, and Velenchenko completed the scoring by being the last person to tap in the ball in front from a 25-yard feed in the 67th minute.

St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 16-14 margin, but was unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Augsburg had 10 corner kicks to St.Olaf's seven.

Auggie goalkeepers combined for the shutout. Laura Hoffman (So., Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) made a key save with 19 minutes remaining, stopping a well-placed penalty kick by St. Olaf's Karen Hamre (Sr., Roseville, Minn.).

Helseth, playing in place of injured regular Elizabeth Brandell (So., Apple Valley, Minn.), made seven saves for the Oles. Stacy Gauger (Sr., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had five shots, while Hamre had four shots to lead the Oles.

The Oles next contest is against Nebraska Wesleyan at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 20 on the St. Olaf campus.
