Bresnan selected Co-Most Outstanding Performance in Track and Field

Mark Bresnan (Sr., Indianola, Iowa) was selected as Co-Most Outstanding Performance in the MIAC track and field championships. Bresnan?s performance in the 800M (1:51.87) is an NCAA provisional. Along with Bresnan?s performance was Macalester?s Erik Klinker?s effort in the 100 hurdle preliminaries (14.36, meet record, NCAA automatic).

Receiving top votes for Most Outstanding Athlete were St. Olaf?s Jon Berg (Sr., Golden Valley, Minn.), who had a NCAA automatic qualifying performance in the decathlon, Hamline?s Tom Kreger, a double champion in the 5000 and 10000 and Gustavus? Luke Speltz, who was the shot put and discus champion, along with the hammer.

The Oles? Bill Thornton was selected as the MIAC Men?s Track & Field Coach of the Year. The Oles improved from third and fourth place finishes at the 2000 indoor and outdoor championships to second place finishes at both meets this year and a combined point improvement of 80.5.
