Oles named to NCAA All-Midwest Region Baseball Team

Four Oles were named to the NCAA All-Midwest baseball team. Shortstop Brian Sprout (Jr., Lake City, Minn.) and catcher Dan LaManna (Jr., So. St. Paul, Minn.) were selected to the first team and first baseman Nick Beissel (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.), along with pitcher Charlie Rudd (FY, Cannon Falls, Minn.) were named to the third team.
The St. Olaf Oles repeated as MIAC champions with an 18-2 record in the conference and 29-9 overall. The Oles won 12 consecutive games to close their regular season and they remained undefeated at home; they included home sweeps of St. John?s University, Concordia College and the University of St. Thomas. St. Olaf tied an MIAC record by sweeping nine conference doubleheaders in a season.
The Oles finished the regular season ranked third in the Midwest Region and 19th in the ABCA Division III poll. St. Olaf lost to the University of St. Thomas 9-2 in the championship of the MIAC tournament.
