Emeritus faculty member Richard Fehner dies

St. Olaf Professor Emeritus Richard Fehner, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 5. He attended St. Olaf College before entering the U.S. Army, where he served in France and Germany during WW II. After the war, he graduated from St. Olaf before joining the college's English faculty. His classes focused on 16th- through 18th-century British literature, but also included American fiction and Native American literature.
The topics Fehner researched during his 37 years of teaching at St. Olaf ranged from John Donne's Holy Sonnets to the wartime content of the U.S. Army's Stars and Stripes newspaper.
