St. Olaf announces Lilly Grant appointments

St. Olaf College recently announced the Lilly Grant Program appointments for this summer and the next academic year.
The college's Lilly Sustainability Grant Program began in the fall of 2008. It is an extension of a 2002 grant from the Lilly Endowment that enabled St. Olaf to create the Program for Lives of Worth and Service, which aided students, faculty, staff, and alumni in their discernment of and reflection on vocation. The Lilly Grant Program is coordinated and administered through the Center for Experiential Learning (CEL).
Appointments:
- Lilly Vocational Intern: Katie Godfrey '08 will spend the 2009-10 academic year working with various groups on campus.
- Lilly Pastoral Intern: Andy Willis '03 from Luther Seminary will spend the year working with the Pastors' Office and ministering to the needs of the student congregation and the entire St. Olaf community.
- Lilly Summer Vocational Interns:
Five students will spend the summer living together at Luther Seminary and working in various Twin Cities congregations. They are:- Joe Paille '11, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul
- Mara Fink '11, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Minneapolis
- Grace Thompson '10, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis
- Lyndel Owens '10, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Minneapolis
- Laura Johnson '10, Calvary Lutheran Church in Minneapolis
- Lilly International Service Learning: Jenny Howenstine '98 and David Wagner '03, both from the Office of Admissions, will lead a group of students to Egypt in June to work, serve and learn at St. Andrew's Refugee Services in Cairo.
- Leaders for Social Change:
Students will live together in a college honor house and serve in various Northfield community and non-profit organizations. They will participate in seminars and reflection sessions led by staff members in the Center for Experiential Learning. Participants in this summer's program are: Allison Bengfort '10, Nick Coley '10, Cameron Field '10, Kelly Harrington '10, Rachel Kitze '11, Jenny Kramm '10, Anne Steeves '10, Kyle Svingen '11 and Tommy Van Wylen '11.
