St. Olaf to host 'Making it in the Arts' conference Oct. 18

St. Olaf College will host the second annual "Making It in the Arts Conference" Saturday, Oct. 18. The conference will provide an opportunity for members of the St. Olaf and Northfield communities to learn how best to apply artistic interests and creativity for success in future business endeavors.
The conference will be held in Buntrock Commons from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. People interested in attending can register online. Cost of attendance is free for St. Olaf students and ranges from $25 to $55 for other participants.

Topics to be discussed include how to start arts organizations and how to market and manage them. Sessions will include question and answer periods.
Brunelle founded the Twin Cities-based choral group VocalEssence 40 years ago. The ensemble has toured internationally and often appears on the popular radio program A Prairie Home Companion.
Other speakers include Jennifer Dotson, co-founder and executive director of Alive Arts Media; Scott Stulen, project director for mnartists.org at the Walker Art Center; Mark Nerenhausen, president/CEO of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; professional actor Beth Chaplin '85; Mary Abrams '84, founder and director of Moving Body Resources; and many other speakers from diverse artistic fields.
