Alumnus elected to Russian Academy of Sciences
July 31, 2008
The prestigious Russian Academy of Sciences has elected Roger Stolen '59, a pioneer in the field of optics, as a foreign member. The honor will give him the "opportunity to collaborate with some of the most brilliant minds in the world in the field of optics," says Chris Przirembel, vice president for research and economic development at Clemson University, where Stolen is a visiting professor.
Stolen, who earned a physics degree from St. Olaf, worked for Bell Labs for 30 years and has received several awards honoring his pioneering research.
