Annual Syttende Mai breakfast to be held Saturday

Celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day at the annual St. Olaf Syttende Mai breakfast on Saturday, May 17, from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Kings Dining Room. The event will be hosted by the St. Olaf College Norwegian Department and Norwegian House.

The traditional Norwegian breakfast will feature a variety of hot and cold delicacies. The menu will include a variety of breads and crackers; cheeses, such as goat cheese and Jarlsberg; meats and fish, such as sardines, pickled herring and anchovies; dessert waffles; pastries and almond cake; and fresh fruit.

The celebration will also include entertainment by members of the Lars Skjervheim Spelemannslag Hardanger fiddle group and students and faculty in the Norwegian Department.

The breakfast is open to the public, and the cost is $10.50 per person ($3.60 for students who are on a meal plan at St. Olaf). After breakfast stop by the St. Olaf Bookstore, where you'll receive a 20 percent discount on Scandinavian gift items from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
