St. Olaf College alumnus Kristopher "Tip" Lee '04 recently received the 2008 Student Award of Merit from the William Mitchell College of Law Alumni Association.

Lee, who received the award along with his law degree during William Mitchell's commencement ceremony May 18, graduated from St. Olaf with degrees in history and Asian studies. Before entering William Mitchell, he taught English in China for a year. The lengthy list of activities he was involved in at William Mitchell includes participating in the Ruby Vale Corporate Law Moot Court, mentoring students, conducting research for the new Center for Negotiation and Justice, completing an externship with Hennepin County District Judge Kathryn Quaintance, and volunteering for Project Homeless Connect clinics.

"I am a serious student who doesn't take himself too seriously," Lee says.

In August Lee will begin a yearlong clerkship with Minnesota Appeals Judge Kevin Ross. After that he already has a job waiting for him in the litigation department of Winthrop & Weinstine, the law firm where he interned last summer.
