Annual Ole Artisan Bazaar to be held Friday
November 11, 2007
The handiwork of St. Olaf College students, faculty and staff will be on display Friday, Nov. 16, during the annual Ole Artisan Bazaar.
The bazaar, which will take place in Buntrock Commons from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will offer a wide variety of arts and crafts for sale. Around 33 tables will be set up to display items such as jewelry, scarves, baskets, cards, candles, lotions, soaps, coconut shell products, mulberry paper products and table runners.
Heidi James '09 is one of the students involved with the Artisan Bazaar. James is a member of the student organization Stitches for Peace, a group committed to making hand-knitted and crocheted goods for various charity groups. Stitches for Peace's past projects have involved making blankets for the Northfield Clothes Closet, which provides free clothing and household products to people in need, and for Global Health Ministries.
At the Artisan Bazaar, Stitches for Peace will be selling handmade and donated goods such as scarves, mittens, hats, slippers, bags and patchwork knitted blankets. All proceeds will benefit the Stitches for Peace yarn and supply fund.
"Not only was the bazaar fun to be a part of [last year], but it was amazing to see all of the talents in the St. Olaf community," St. Olaf student Jenna Wagner '09 said. "I look forward to this year's bazaar."
The Ole Artisan Bazaar is open to the public.
