"I wanted to love it," writes St. Olaf Professor of English Diana Postlethwaite in the Star Tribune. "With a first print run of 750,000 copies, Alice Sebold's second novel, The Almost Moon, is what they call in the book biz 'highly anticipated' ... but from the first sentence of Sebold's follow-up act ('When all is said and done, killing my mother came easily'), I felt an impending sense of bad-novel doom."
