Hollywood animator Kristin Solid '94 on campus Friday-Saturday
October 25, 2007
St. Olaf students, faculty and staff are invited to an informal conversation with cinematic animator Kristin Solid '94 Friday, Oct. 26, 3:30-5 p.m. in Buntrock Commons 142. The event is sponsored by the Boldt Chair in the Humanities.
"When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an actress, a dancer and an artist. As an animator, I can be all those things and so much more," says the art, mathematics and Asian studies triple major. Solid is on campus for Saturday's entrepreneurial Making it in the Arts Conference.
Solid earned an MFA from the UCLA Animation Workshop. She has since animated video games, and was the first woman animator to work on director Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning film King Kong. Other feature films she has worked on include Spiderwick Chronicles, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and Night at the Museum.
