St. Olaf Associate Professor of Music Marty Hodel appeared on Minnesota Public Radio live at the Minnesota State Fair Aug. 25. His trumpet trio, referred to as "Marty Hodel and Friends," entertained fair-goers on MPR's live stage. The trio included Douglas Carlsen from the Minnesota Orchestra, Dan Fretland from the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Hodel.

Music included a variety of styles such as madrigals and motets, horn calls and fanfares. Commentator Alison Young reported the show and interviewed Hodel. Other guests included VocalEssence, conducted by Philip Brunelle (a member of the St. Olaf Board of Regents), Guthrie Theater artistic director Joe Dowling and flutist Linda Chatterton.
