'Blindness fails to dim bright outlook'

"Sight is a sense I completely don't understand," St. Olaf student Sydney Freedman '09 recently told a Phoenix paper. But the blind music and medieval studies double major doesn't want people to treat her differently. "Technically, I am disabled," she said. "I can do a lot but I need others sometimes to tell me I don't look like a dork." Freedman has spent the summer teaching at the Foundation for Blind Children in Phoenix.
