Second 'Ole' Day of Service planned
April 20, 2007
On April 21 "Ole" clubs in Washington, D.C.; New York; Chicago; Seattle; Denver; Madison, Wisc.; Owatonna, Minn.; and the Twin Cities will grab their rakes, paint brushes, families and giving hearts to serve their communities.
The Second Annual St. Olaf National Day of Service is poised to surpass last year's successful event by adding another national project, student-alumni interaction and room for nearly 400 volunteers -- 100 more than last year.
During the event participants will work on 25 projects, including the restoration of a trail in Seattle, painting murals in a Sunday School classroom in Minneapolis, reading with senior citizens in Owatonna and planting trees in a Denver public park. The Twin Cities group, which boasts 16 projects across Minneapolis and St. Paul, will enlist the help of current St. Olaf students, alumni and parents.
