Oles to participate in Earth Day events

Northfield Community, Saturday and Sunday

St. Olaf and Carleton students invite everyone to participate in the following Earth Day events.

Saturday, April 21st

8:30 a.m.-1p.m. Maltby Nature Preserve, Meet at Carleton's Sayles Hill to volunteer at the Science Center

10 a.m.-12 p.m. Cannon River Clean-Up! Meet at the parking lot off HWY 19 next to Carleton's West Gym

10 a.m.-11a.m. Nature Tour of the Arb. Meet at the parking lot off HWY 19 next to Carleton's West Gym for a naturalist tour of the Arboretum

1 p.m. Northfield Sustainability Tour. Meet at Bridge Square with your bike, or ride the biodiesel van.

2 p.m. Gardening Workshop. Learn about soil preparation and direct seeding of greens at Carleton Farm House.

7-10:30 p.m. Earth Day Contra Dance. Carleton Great Hall.

Sunday, April 22, Earth Day

12:30 p.m. Interfaith Earth Service in Central Park.

1 p.m. Community Potluck, Central Park.

1:30 Earth Day Parade to Bridge Square from Central Park.

2 p.m. Sustainability -- Inspirations and Aspirations: Hosts Mayor Lee Lansing and Carleton Vice President Fred Rogers speak on what their communities are doing for sustainability and recognize leaders in their communities with awards.

2:30-5 p.m. Bridge Square Activities: Super fun games for kids, information booths, sign-ups for the Minnesota Energy Challenge, bike repair, light bulb sale.

3-4 p.m. Rain Barrel Making Workshop, Bridge Square.
