Jazz recital to feature Hagedorn and Cavanagh '01

Dan Cavanagh '01 returns to the hill to perform with his former mentor, David Hagedorn, in an evening of jazz.
After graduating from St. Olaf Cavanagh earned a master's in music at the University of Oregon and received the Outstanding Graduate Student in Jazz Studies award upon graduation.
Cavanagh is an Assistant Professor of Music and Assistant Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to his teaching, he works as a freelance jazz pianist and composer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and has garnered numerous awards for his jazz compositions, including a 2006 First Music Commission from the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Band Classic program.
