St. Olaf College President David R. Anderson '74 and Carleton College President Rob Oden will address the monthly NDDC Downtown Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 3, sponsored by the Northfield Downtown Development Corp.

Anderson&Oden
Presidents Anderson (left) and Oden are never at a loss for words when discussing how Northfield and its two colleges complement each other.
The event, which is open to the public, begins at 8 a.m. in the lower-level conference room of the Archer House at Third and Division streets in Northfield. Coffee and refreshments will be served.

The majority of the presidents' time will be dominated by questions from the audience. Both Anderson and Oden will open with remarks about each college's role in the Northfield community -- as a stakeholder, an employer and a provider not only of intellectual and cultural events but of student energy and volunteerism.

Anderson is new to Northfield, having moved here in July from his position of provost and professor of English at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Oden has been president of Carleton since 2002. He came to Northfield from the presidency of Kenyon College in Ohio, where he and Anderson became friends.

The NDDC is a voice for downtown made up of business owners and managers, civic leaders, and representatives of Carleton and St. Olaf colleges. For more information, call NDDC Executive Director Ross Currier at 507-663-0319.
