Alumnus's work with 'Cargill Scholars' program helps youth

By Tom Vogel
October 25, 2006

St. Olaf Board of Regents member Ron Hunter '70, along with his "little brother," Rashad Samuels, a freshman at Southwest High School, is featured in a Star Tribune article on the Cargill Scholars program, which supports disadvantaged youth in the Twin Cities. Hunter, who works at Cargill and grew up in North Minneapolis, met Samuels through the Big Brothers program about five years ago. During that time, Samuels has performed well in school, and he and Hunter have forged a strong relationship.

In recognition of his mentoring relationship with Samuels, Hunter was named a national "Hero In Our Midst" earlier this year.
