'Parent Coaching' seminar will help with college years

Today's parents are known for being deeply involved in their children's lives, as coaches, mentors and friends. But how does that passion and engagement translate to the college years, when students are looking for independence?

Not always fluidly or easily, say three parenting and higher education experts who will present a parents' seminar on Saturday, Oct. 7, 10:30 a.m. to noon, during Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Judy Anderson, Terese Blanck and Peter Vogt, the entrepreneurs who founded the Twin Cities-based College to Career, will help parents learn to help their students: navigate the college years to find a major that fits their innate talents and passions; make smart decisions along the way so they can finish college in four years; and acquire the skills, traits and experience they'll need to transition into the world of work.

The seminar is open to anyone, but seating will be limited. Contact the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations for more information.
