Alumnus to chair national accounting board
August 10, 2006
Mark Olson '65 recently left his position as governor on the Federal Reserve Board to chair the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, where he will oversee more than 1,500 accounting firms and adopt auditing standards.
According to an article in the Star Tribune, the accounting board was created after recent corporate scandals that led to calls for more accountability in the public accounting industry.
"We're going to install an electric buzzer and we're going to zap people who use 'Peek-A-Boo,' " says Olson, who earned his economics degree from St. Olaf.
