Hofrenning talks to MPR about war on terror

By Tom Vogel
August 11, 2006

In light of the recent terrorist plot in London, Minnesota Public Radio asked St. Olaf Associate Professor of Political Science Dan Hofrenning to comment on the attention the war on terror is getting from U.S. Senate candidates. Hofrenning told Morning Edition that, since 9/11, "Opinion poll after opinion poll shows that citizens look to Republicans, or trust Republicans more, to ensure their security in the war on terror." However, he notes that recent polls show that advantage eroding.

While Hofrenning says that terrorism is prevalent in many voters' minds now, he also reminds listeners that the November election is months away.
